What we did today!

Today, i uploaded everything we shot yesterday onto the computer, but as we watched it back we realised that in the background of the part where Mrs. Biggs (played by Mr. Gibb) walks around and sees what is happening we could see people stood in a doorway watching us film. We also thought the voice that Mr. Gibb used for Mrs. Biggs didn't sound camp enough, so we deiced to re-shot those bits, however Mr. Gibb had his hair cut after school, which created a continuity error but we deiced against re-doing the "wink" that Mrs. Biggs gives Edwardo because we all thought that was hilarious and that if we tried to do it again it wouldn't be the same or as funny, so deiced to think of some funny way to incorporate the dramatic hair loss between takes. After we re-shot the two parts, we went and uploaded everything onto the computer, as this was happening we all came up possible things to say about the hair. In the end we came up with:

"Don’t ask about the hair, it just grows and grows... it’s just not natural!" This will be added to the voice over which we are going to record after we have finished editing the film, we plan for it to be one of the last things we do to our film, along with adding the music.

Shooting the First Scene & Scene Three

Today we shot the first scene of our film, it involved Edwardo (Matt) sitting in a bush writing in his diary, we originally planned for the scene to be shot at night but since we weren't allowed on school property after 7pm we had to change the time of day to early morning. It is not that much of a major problem for our film but it is for all the written work we have already completed, so we now have to go back and re-write that scene again.

The filming we did turned out really well, whilst we where shooting the scene Sam thought it would be funny for us to throw sticks at Edwardo as he wrote. So we all grabbed and handful of muddy sticks and threw them at him, it added some comedy to what was a sad start to a film, so we have to thanks Sam for coming up with this when we got out there or the scene would have looked very uninteresting.

After we finished shooting that scene, we came back in side and shot the corridor scene, before we started filming we had to work out where the two cameras were going to be placed and to try and not get one accidentally in the back of the other camera's shot. So we made a camera map (which will be posted later, after we have finished editing,) and then went into the corridor to check if it was ok, everything looked fine so we went ahead with shooting.

Since, we needed to use a group of people in the scene we asked: Frazer, Nick and Tom, if they would like to play bullies they agreed and we got them into place. The scene was set up so Sam on Camera Two was capture the boys leaving a room and walking towards Edwardo, and me on Camera One would capture them walking towards Edwardo and the fight that happens between Arnie (played by Tom) and Hannah (played by Sarah). We thought we had it all planned out but when we watched the takes back you could see Sam and the camera in almost all of the shots, so we decided to that we would try to edit around him when the we come to edit our film. After that we filmed Mrs Biggs' part (played by Mr Gibb,) it went well we did everything we planned to shot and more. Overall, today was a good day.

After we finished shooting I went and uploaded everything onto the computer, there were a couple of problems I saw when I watched the footage back. Along with the camera problem we had already spotted I did not realise that when we filmed Mrs Biggs part you could see all the people shot in the doorway of the classroom in the back of the shot, watching us and also that you could hear them laughing and talking during the scene. So we decided to re-shoot Mrs Biggs scene but to keep the fight part as it is because we could never do something as good as what we filmed today.

Shooting Scene Two

Today, we started shooting our movie! We shot the second scene outside on the school drive, me and Sarah played the two stupid girls who make fun of Edwardo (played by Matt) as he walks to school. It was the first time we had seen the costume for Edwardo and by costume I mean the wig. we planned for Edwardo to look like a goth and the wig really helps the audience see why people may pick on him. When we had shot the walking up the drive part it was time to shoot the best part of the film, where we throw a snowball at Matt, we originally planned to throw a football at him, but since we already had the snow around us we decided that it would be funnier if Sarah threw a snowball at Edwardo. Then i uploaded them on to the computer.

High School Loser Script

'High School Loser'
The Script

Fade into the shot taken from what looks like a dead bush it's light, early morning, in the background we can see some trees surrounding a hunched over boy with messy, long black hair and dark clothes sitting in it and can hear the leaves rustling in the wind. We zoom in and see that he is writing in what looks like a very untidy notebook we can then hear what he is writing.

V.O. Edwardo
Hi. I’m Edwardo Fredireco (What was my mother thinking, right?), and this is me, the joke of my entire school. I’ve decided to run far, far away. And if you’re wondering why I’m here, I’ll show you. I’ll take you back to the beginning of the worst day of my.

Scene two

Flashback to the previous day
Edwardo is walking to school, alone from the surroundings, we can tell this is set in America. In the shot we can see two girls pointing and laughing at him

Stupid Girl one:
Oh my god,(laughing hysterically) I like totally know right, he’s like, so funny, what’s he wearing?

Stupid Girl two:
It looks like a bin bag

Stupid girl one:
Oh my god that is so last year
Stupid Girl two:
Oh my god, i have the best idea ever!

They run off and the camera cuts to close up of Edwardo walking up the school drive, from nowhere a snowball flies across the frame and hits Edwardo on the head.
PAUSE as ‘High school Loser’ appears on the screen. Whilst it is paused we hear him say

V.O Edwardo
You see I’ve got a dark secret, darker than my hair, which is totally cool, right? And I’ve had to live with this secret since I was five years old.

The shot unfreezes and the snowball hits him on the head, he falls to the ground and we hear the school bell ring.

Scene three

Cut to Edwardo standing next to a wall, and is looking down and is visibly upset from his ordeal earlier, we see a group of people walking up to him, laughing and pointing. One guy stays behind to talk to him

Arnie:
Hey douche bag, get over here, you owe me money!

Edwardo:
That’s funny, because that’s what your mom said last night.

Arnie:
That’s not funny you little shit! Why I oughtta!

A girl walks out from the crowd and hurries over to Edwardo. From no where a fist punch the guy in the face, he falls flat on his back

Hannah
That’s the 10th one today, (she clicks her fingers turns to Edwardo)

Mrs Bigg
Miss Smith step away from Mr Bent, and get over here now!!!!
Walking down the corridor we see the head teacher, she is very tall with short brown hair, and winks at Edwardo, and he winces

V.O. Edwardo
That’s my mom (pause) she is the head teacher of this hell hole.

As Hannah walks towards Mrs Bigg she turns and winks at Edwardo, she then walks out of shot and we are left with Edwardo looking very flustered and Arnie rolling around on the floor still moaning.
