Thursday 5th March 09 (What We Did!)

On Wednesday 4th March we edited all of our film and found out that it only lasted 1 minute 28 seconds, so we decided to add 2 more scenes into the film. The scenes will be placed in between scene 2, where Edwardo walks up the school drive and scene three where he gets picked on during the day. We decided to put the scenes here because this way we can show the audience how he got to being in the hallway, what happened to his bag and jacket and it gave us more of a chance to create sympathy towards Edwardo. We see just how unpopular he really is at the school and I think that this is good for the rest of the movie, instead of the audience's reaction just being "aww," it will gain a much stronger reaction and hopefully add to the comedy, cause there can never be enough comedy.

We decided to show Edwardo's typical day at school how he gets picked. The new scene three is now Edwardo walking up some stairs and bumping into a group of girls chatting, (played by Cory, Adele and Kerry) they spot him and start to laugh and point at him. Scene Four, shows Edwardo walking through a corridor and having his bag and coat stolen by one of his normal bullies (played by Sam.) We used two cameras and also shot reverse shot in this scene because we hadn't already used it yet during our film. We have written the script and done a camera map for each of the scenes and it will be posted on the blog as soon as we have edited these into the film.

As we shot the end of scene three a man walked into our shot, before we started to re-shot we realised that you could hear him laughing at the situation, so we decided to keep it in, as it shows that not just the students at the school dislike him but also members of staff.

After that we moved to a different corridor to shot the new scene four, which involved Edwardo getting his bag and coat stolen by one of the school bullies (played by Sam.) We used the over the shoulder shot, as well as shot reverse shot in this scene, we used these because we wanted to show that we did know other types of shots instead of just long/wide/ mid shots. We used the shot reverse shot because I thought that if we kept using ordinary shots it would start to look quite boring so I decided that we needed a change. We thought that everything had gone well, until we watched the footage back and saw that in background of the last scene you could see me standing in the background, and also Sarah as well with the camera. We decided that it wasn't that noticeable unless you knew where to look so we kept it because Matt's laugh was very funny if we did it again we were worried that it would not be the same.
